“Harrison Waits by Missy Hagen is a 30-page long children’s illustrated story about a very young boy named Harrison. He looks to be about three or four years of age, and this is a very busy day for him. He is obviously anxious about something important coming up, but he fills his day to the brim with all sorts of adventurous things and doesn’t appear impatient. In fact, he goes through 22 different things throughout the day until his patience pays off.

“This is one of those books that a young child will be able to sit down and enjoy with a parent or grandparent. It’s a lesson learning book too, although that comes more by way of stealth. What I mean is that this is no “here is how you wait for things” type of tale as we watch what Harrison does (all 22 of them!) — all positive things, by the way. There is no complaining or arguing or sighing and wondering when his reward will finally arrive. Instead, he focuses on some fun activities, some rituals, and continues this way throughout the day. And that is a major power with this book: if your little reader is anticipating something big coming his or her way, this can serve as a springboard of ideas that will help entertain, while still keeping a focus on meaningful things. And of course, Harrison Waits by Missy Hagen is also filled with delightful and detailed colorful pages that young readers will enjoy looking at time and time again. This book comes highly recommended.”
